Cindy Lemos, aka WinoGal, was born and raised in northern California at the base of Mt. Shasta. At the tender age of 17, she flew to Germany as a foreign exchange student. That fall, she was introduced to the German version of The Crush. The grapes were Reisling (both Grey and Johannisberg) and the love of wine was implanted and nurtured for the 13 months living close to the WeinStrasse.
A few years later after college, she moved from San Diego to Yosemite where she became a Sommelier at the prestigious Ahwahnee Hotel. After a few missteps (like the time she presented Chateau Montelena Chardonnay as buttery & oaky when that bottle of wine clearly had not undergone malolactic fermentation!) she learned that wine is an incredible journey from its infancy in fermentation to the bottle and if aged properly, an exquisite gem to savor.
Her love of all things wine led her to organization of the fun, Fun, FUN Club - the object was experiencing wine country with friends over a weekend.... generally with the support vehicles laden down from the massive wine purchases!
Fast forward to 2007 when Don Frangipani of Frangipani Winery gave her the first cigar box. She transformed it into her very first WinoGal creation: a Romeo & Julieta purse with Asti image and burgundy velvet lining. Noticed at Keyways during the annual Shakespeare in the Vines production when an actor picked it up and remarked on its beauty during the production - while staying in character, of course!
Today, Cindy invites all the wonderful women (and men) of the world who enjoy beautiful things and experiences of a lifetime to join her in her credo:
